Maternity Unit

Welcome to Salisbury District Hospital's Maternity Unit!

Whether you are expecting a baby or thinking of starting a family, we are delighted that you are considering us for your care. We are a small, professional, and friendly team supporting approximately 2,500 mothers per year.

Our aim is for you to have a safe and fully informed pregnancy and birth experience, resulting in a healthy mother and baby. We like to offer parents a choice of where they give birth, and our priority is to provide high quality care. This can be in the Maternity Unit, our new Birth Centre or at home.

We are a team that include caring midwives and experienced specialist doctors (obstetricians), led by Vicki Marston, Director of Maternity & Neonatal Services. We are supported by our other healthcare professionals from the Neonatal Unit and across the hospital to provide you with the most comprehensive care. We always include the parents in any decisions made, keeping you fully informed and involved in your care and supporting you to make the right decisions for you and your baby. We also encourage you to tell us about your needs and expectations.
